Oct Recs Part II

More spooky book recommendations headed your way.

”EERIE vol 1” contains the first five issues of the 1960’s horror magazine. Some of the best 60’s art was happening in the horror titles and EERIE was no exception. This volume has art from Jack Davis, Steve Ditko, Alex Toth, Wally Wood and a bunch more

Speaking of incredible artists, “Dracula Motherf#cker!” is an incredible turn for Erica Henderson. Best known for her delightfully cartoony Unbeatable Squirrel Girl the stylistic shift in this book grabbed my attention immediately. Moody and pulp[y the story updates the Dracula mythos to sit comfortably in the 1970’s

“Afterlife With Archie” hasn’t gotten the love it deserves in the years since it came out. Similar to “Shaun of the Dead” in that it is more or less a parody of Zombie stories that manages to be an effective horror story on it’s own. And you can never go wrong with Francesco Francavilla’s art

“Red Room” is gnarly. Horror and torture porn turned up to eleven. You’ll know if it’s for you or not pretty quickly.

And lastly the first issue of “Dracula” from the Department of Truth team is out now and it’s a keeper!
